It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Allan Prince on Sunday, December 8th, 2024. This unexpected loss leaves an immeasurable void in the hearts of all who were fortunate to know and love him.
Al was born on April 24, 1951, in Pembroke, Ontario, and grew up in Eganville, where his siblings fondly recall his playful antics taking root early. At 18, Al moved to the Kitchener area, and in 1973, he met the love of his life, Mary Connors. The couple married in Eganville in 1976 and soon after experienced the joy and heartbreak of welcoming a little girl, Lisa, who was with them a short time and lives forever in their hearts. Their lives were further blessed with two children, Amy and Todd, who brought endless happiness and laughter to their home.
Family was Al’s greatest joy in life. A devoted husband, father, and friend, he treasured his role as Papa to his beloved grandchildren. His life was a testament to love, humour, and connection, with his family always at the heart of it.
Known for his sharp wit and infectious grin, Al had a unique knack for being the center of attention. Whether sharing laughs with friends and family or playfully pushing buttons in the most endearing way, his charm was irresistible. The grin and snicker - if you know you know - and if you do, you are truly lucky.
Al was also a man of unwavering loyalty and honour. He was the friend everyone could count on, no matter the ask, time and time again. To his many nieces and nephews, he was “Uncle Al” in the truest sense of the word, embodying everything an uncle should be.
An avid Maple Leafs fan and passionate outdoorsman, Al loved hunting trips, games of horseshoes, and countless gatherings filled with warmth, camaraderie and maybe some good old fashioned competition in the way of a lively card game.
Al’s legacy lives on in the cherished memories of his wife Mary, his children Todd (Jen) and Amy (Chris), his grandchildren, Thomas, Ben, Kayleigh and Henry, his siblings, in-laws, nieces, nephews, and countless friends.
A celebration of Al’s life will be held Sunday, December 15th from 11am to 1pm at Westmount Memorial Celebration Center. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Food Bank of Waterloo Region, honouring Al’s spirit of generosity.
Rest in peace, Al. You are forever loved and deeply missed.
