A native of St. Cloud, Florida, and Brevard, North Carolina, Muriel graduated with a B.S. in Elementary Education from Willimantic State Technical College, Willimantic, Connecticut. Muriel used her gifts to mold and shape the minds of many eager students even late into her years. A devoted wife to Robert “Bob” James Carlyon, Muriel joined her family on many adventures throughout the Western frontier of the U.S., the beautiful climate of Germany, even to her father-in-law’s hometown in the U.K.
Muriel enjoyed a successful career as the Senior Closer at both Lawyer’s Title and American Title respectively. Her interests and hobbies included gardening, knitting, sewing, needlepoint, antiquing, painting and researching her family history. As a member of the Transylvania County Handcrafter’s Guild, North Carolina, Muriel displayed her talents in a myriad of handcrafter’s conventions. She is survived by her siblings Frank Carlyon and Beverly Hofstetter, her children Deborah Carlyon Bray and Robert James “Jim” Carylon Jr., her grandchildren, Chris, David, Becky, Adam, and Jessica, and 9 great-grandchildren. Muriel was pre-deceased by her beloved husband Bob, of 54 years, on November 2, 2005, and now joins him in heaven.
A celebration of Muriel’s life will be held Sunday, April 15, 2018, from 1pm – 2pm at Grissom Funeral Home, 803 Emmett St. Kissimmee, Florida, 34741. A continuation of her life’s celebration will be held the same day after the service at 1028 Tony Circle, St. Cloud, Florida, 34772.
