Ann achieved a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education at SUNY Cortland before going on to earn her master's degree at SUNY Albany. In 1994 she married Peter Duhamel in 1994 and they remained married until his passing in 2011.
Ann was an educator in Troy, New York, and Virginia Beach. She later went on to work in education publishing until her retirement in 2004.
She enjoyed traveling all over the world with Bill, her loving partner of over 10 years, quilting, and golfing, even receiving a Hole in One award from her golf club. She had many close friends and also liked to participate in a book club and serve her community by volunteering with Make a Wish and hospice.
Ann is survived by her significant other, Bill Kent, and siblings Nancy Cabana, Barbara Ferrari, and Martin Shimer, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Peter Duhamel, brother, Stephen Shimer, and her parents, Catherine (Betty) Steimer, and Donald Shimer.
