Marion Evelyn Dunn

It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother Marion Evelyn Dunn. Marion passed away peacefully Friday June 26th, 2020 at the New Hope Lodge in Stoughton at the age of 91.

Marion was born July 15, 1928 in the Windthorst district to Harry and Edna Dew, now deceased. Marion was predeceased by her husband Ivan of 55 years in 2004, granddaughter Angela Gail Dunn in 2000, son in-law Randy Dayman in 2020, brother Les Dew, brothers and sisters in-law Gordon Lowenberg, Vernon Dunn, Ruth (Elwood) Olver and Orma (Roy) McGregor.

Marion is survived by her son Larry Dunn of Stoughton, daughter Pat Dayman of Corning and son Danny Dunn (Karen) of Corning. Grandchildren Lana Dayman, Trina Dayman, Danielle (Darrell) Mytopher. Great grandchildren Jayden Dayman, Ashley Dayman (Jordon), Mykala Nagy, Kelsey Nagy, Vanessa Mytopher and Nicholas Mytopher. Sister Arlene Lowenberg and sister in-law Doreen Dew as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Marion grew up on a farm south of Windthorst and attended school in the Buffalo Plains District. She married the love of her life Ivan in 1948. Marion and Ivan operated a livestock trucking business and farming operation in the Corning area for over 40 years. Marion also worked at the Corning Co-op for several years, she was very active in the Corning community and served on many local boards. Marion had a green thumb for gardening and loved to knit and crochet. Marion and Ivan were very active in teaching old time dancing as well as taking part in old-time dances. Marion judged old time fiddlers’ contests for many years. Marion and Ivan retired to Stoughton in their later years where they had many cherished friends. She will be lovingly remembered and missed by all that knew her.

Special thanks to the staff of the Arcola Hospital and Stoughton New Hope Lodge for their caring and compassion over the last few years. Special thanks also to all of mom’s coffee and card playing friends for watching out for her and helping her get to special events in Stoughton. It was very much appreciated by Marion and her family.

Due to Covid-19, a small private family interment will take place. A celebration of life will take place at a future date when it is safe to do so.
