Ronald Lee Jordan was born on February 18, 1939 in Reading, PA to Peter and Mildred Stapleton Jordan. He passed away peacefully February 3, 2023 at home from a brief illness, surrounded by his family, just shy of celebrating his 84th birthday.
As a Hotel and Restaurant Executive with Marriott, Ron came to Houston in 1968. In 1970, he built, owned and operated the Quality Inn Intercontinental Airport, known as the County Club Hotel for its amenities. As an early pioneer family to Kingwood, the Jordan’s built a home in 1971 in what was then just called Trailwood.
For the next 50 years, Ron would remain an active party in his community and industry serving in several chair positions for organizations such as Quality Inns International, Houston Hotel Motel Association, Humble Chamber of Commerce, Humble Savings and Loan Association. He served for 20 years as a Professor-Lecturer at the Conrad N. Hilton College of Global Hospitality Leadership. His work didn’t stop when he sold his hotel and became the owner operator of Intercontinental Machine all the while continuing to teach at the University of Houston. His fishing hobby led him to open Intercontinental Fishing Charters in Surfside, TX. As an antique car enthusiast, Ron was known best for his Packards and Studebakers that would frequent community parades and car shows way back to the early days of Kingwood. Memberships to organizations such as the Lone Star Packards, Kingwood Classic Cars, Keels and Wheels allowed him to share his passion with others.
Baptized and raised Lutheran, Ron was instrumental in helping to organize both Holy Comforter and Lamb of God Lutheran Churches. He was a man behind some of the “firsts” in Kingwood such as the first television commercial and the Movie Theater where the Aldi Grocery Store sits today. His proudest accomplishment was becoming a father to two girls and twin boys.
Ron is preceded in by his parents, Peter and Mildred Stapleton Jordan; brother and sister in law, Frank and Joan Jordan; and brother, John Jordan all of Reading, PA.
Ron is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Juanita Johnson Jordan; his daughters, Juliana and husband David Dearman of Kingwood, TX, and Juanita and husband Kevin Neely of Franklin, TN; his sons, Tim and wife Lori Jordan of Pearland, TX and Tom Jordan of Kingwood, TX. His legacy is further blessed with grandchildren; Jordan and Mary Dearman, Caroline Dearman, Emily and Cole Strohmeier, Cameron Neely, Jordan Neely, Tyler Jordan, Taylor Jordan and recent great grandchildren, Sutton Dearman and Wesley Strohmeier. Additionally, Ron leaves his sister Nina and her husband Phil Ward of Georgetown, TX.
Ron’s life was made even richer by his large circle of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who he held close and are far too numerous to mention.
