Her father died when she was 8 and left her mother Ann with Regina and her three younger siblings to raise. She met her husband and soul mate “Smitty” when she was 12 years old while he delivered papers and she jumped rope. Regina graduated from “Our Lady of Perpetual Help” and helped with her family at home.
Regina was an accomplished homemaker creating warm and loving homes for her own family through the years in New York, Verona/Oakmont, PA, Orange, CA, Tokyo, Taipei, Kingwood, TX, Midland, TX, Wyckoff, NJ, and Mexico City, Mexico.
Her greatest life tragedy was the death of her eldest daughter, Maryann, almost 25 years to the day before her own passing.
Regina lived a very happy and full life with her husband of 55 years, Jim. She is also survived by her son James K. Smith and his wife Jennifer, and daughter Nancy Wood and her husband Paul. Regina also leaves behind her four grandchildren, Scott Wood and Katie, Meg, and Jimmy Smith, brothers Bob Rochelle and his wife Judy, and Harold Rochelle and his wife, Bernadette, and brother in law, Joe Spadaro. Regina was preceded in death by her sister Norine and her mother Ann.
She always said “If you smile people will smile back at you”…and they did.
Her recent pleasures were traveling, family get to-gethers, Canasta with girlfriends, and eating out.
A visitation for Regina will take place on Tuesday, April 2, 2013 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Kingwood Funeral Home, 22800 Highway 59 North, Kingwood, Texas 77339.
