Jimmy “Jimbo” Diaz Nieves passed away on August 1, 2021 at the age of 55, in his hometown of Houston, Texas. His battle with serious medical issues in recent years showed his courage in facing life challenges with a smile. Despite the pain, Jimmy stayed hopeful and strong until the end.
Jimmy was hardworking and a loving father, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend to everyone always willing to give the shirt off his back and help anyone in need. There was never a dull moment with him always willing and encouraging others to try new things. Up until the end, his positive outlook and humor remained with him.
Jimmy was an avid Astros fan. His love for the sport goes all the way back to his days playing little league. His favorite thing at Minute Maid Park was to see the train chug along after the Astros hit a home run. "Go 'stros!"
Jimmy also enjoyed hanging out getting together with his friends and family whether it was a crawfish boil or heading to Daytona 500. He always looked forward to spending time fishing and shooting the breeze with his "best bro". Today, he and his childhood buddies remain solid life-long friends. Wherever there was fun, Jimmy was always right there in the middle of it.
Jimmy is preceded in death by his father James Diaz Nieves, mother Helen Nieves and brother James Nieves "Bon". He is survived by his daughter Christain Bui, son-in-law Chinh Bui, grandchildren Link Wilmot, Vihy Seunsom and Snow Bui, sisters Janie Ramirez-Nieves, Jeanette Cobian and brother-in-law Marcus Hamm, Rosemary Nieves and brother-in-law Jorge Avina, Judy Nieves and brother-in-law Bobby Corpus as well as many cherished nieces and nephews.
