James Joseph Howard III

I am heartbroken to announce the passing of James J Howard III… My Jim, at the young age of 57 was taken from us too soon. He struggled with throat cancer for the past year and a half plus and lost that struggle on the morning of the 20th of October. He died at home, with me next to him… exactly where he wanted to be.

Jim grew up in Philadelphia , where he developed his fondness for a good cheese steak which he learned quickly , is nowhere to be found in Kingwood Texas! After he graduated high school, he joined the Military, after first being threatened by a judge. (True story)

While stationed in Pensacola, Florida , he and I met on The USS Lexington…where I also was stationed. I think we both knew that we were destined to be together forever when he started teasing me about my hard hat and being in the Navy….He was always such a tease…..and were married a few months later in July of 1988.

Jim spent 24 years of his life serving in the US Navy which he absolutely loved and was very proud of until he retired and took a job off shore on a rig called Auger. He loved that job and all the people he worked with. The food was pretty good too!

When home on down time, Jim enjoyed spending time with family and hanging out in the pool listening to MoTown and Rock….tending of course to his succulents which were a hobby of his. Of course there were the vacations to Mexico and the spontaneous trips to San Antonio and Fredericksburg. He was particularly fond of those trips because we could take our dog Cooper. But really most of all he just loved being “home”.

Jim had a big heart, he prided himself on always doing the right thing and being there for others in times of need. And by- golly, if Jim said he was going to do something you knew he was going to get it done! Always dependable and very generous.

He was more than just my husband, my best friend, partner in crime, my “person”.…he was a great Dad to Amanda who he loved very much and was very proud of……and his more recent , favorite role as “Poppie” to Alaina and Thomas J. He loved those 2 littles so much.

He will be missed more than anyone can possibly know .
