Jack Bellows Pierce, born July 24, 1923 in Sonora, Texas ,left us 96+ years later on February 11, 2020. He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years Mary Ellen Pierce, his parents John Edwin Pierce and Margaret May McMillian Pierce, sisters Ann and Wilma and brothers Harry and Cecil and unofficial adoptive mother, Verna B. Ditto. He is survived by daughters, Sandi Slack (John) and Terry Feazel (Kurt), three grandchildren, great grandchildren and nephews.
Jack was an outstanding athlete in high school playing every sport including Football, Basketball, Baseball and Track. He continued to follow sports his entire life favoring the University of Texas Longhorns and Dallas Cowboys. He served in the Navy as a pilot in both WWII and the Korean War, retiring with the rank of Lieutenant. For most of his career he was an Air Traffic Controller, helping the FAA transition from a manual to a computer system before he retired.
After living in Arlington, Texas since early childhood, he and his wife moved in 1991 to Kingwood to be closer to their daughters.
His patience and kindness were felt by all who knew him, and he could entertain his nephews Frankie, Gregory, Johnny, Peter & Thomas Rainone with stories of early Arlington growing up in the Eastern Star Home Orphanage and flying in the Navy.
He taught his daughters kindness, compassion, independence and how to be true to themselves. He shared with them his strong work ethic and respect for all people. He could make a pretty mean martini and was no slouch with a Margarita either. We are very proud to be his daughters and he will be remembered always with much love and laughter.
Rest well and please say hello to all those gone before you and who will greet you upon your arrival in Heaven. God Speed and Happy Trails.
A visitation will be held at Kingwood Funeral Home on Saturday, February 15, from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. and burial will be Monday, February 17 at 10:00 at Parkdale Cemetery in Arlington, TX. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mothers Against Cancer or a Charity of your choice.
