Gurden E. Pendergraft, 78, of Kingwood Texas, passed away April 14, 2011 in Kingwood Texas. Gurden was born April 30, 1932 in Eureka Springs, Arkansas to Joseph Loren and Wilma Pendergraft who preceded him in death. He attended grade school in Springdale, Arkansas followed by him pursuing higher education at the University of Arkansas. Following this he honorably served his country for 4 years in the United States Air Force. He worked for the FAA as an Air Traffic Controller for most of his life and enjoyed oil painting in his spare time. Gurden is survived by his wife, Loretta Pendergraft, daughter, Ellen Zunter, son, David Pendergraft, stepson, Richard Duvall, grandchildren, Brandy Duvall, Wayne Duvall, Clifford Duvall, Brian Zunter, Amy Nay , Britney Pendergraft as well as 12 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters Betty Allen, of Rogers, AK, and Peggy Penzo & husband Andrew of Springdale, AK, and Brother Ralph Pendergraft and wife Nancy of Springdale, AK. Pallbearers will be Wayne Duvall, Brandy Duvall, Vicente Mendoza, Randall Blakeney, Dora Veselka, Joseph Blakeney and Brandon Duvall. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the First Baptist Church of Porter Building Fund in his honor. The family would also like to express their thanks to the entire staff at Odyssey Hospice.
