

Fred Bovee Snyder entered eternal life on September 13, 2022, at age 85. Fred was born on September 6, 1937 in Vernon, Texas, son of Beatrice Hazel Snyder and Herbert Lynn Snyder. Fred was the beloved husband of Mary Mercedes Snyder for 64 years.
Fred is survived by his wife, Mercedes Snyder, children – Michael Snyder, Robyn Whiteford and husband Bruce, Kent Snyder and wife Kellie, grandchildren – Blair Snyder, Grant Snyder, Alexandra Wood and husband David, Jennifer Reese and husband Skylyn, Megan Sutton and husband Matt and Sam Snyder and wife Haley and seven great grandchildren Emily, Harper, Audrey, Caleb, Daxon, Levi and Bentley.
Fred grew up and graduated from high school in Holdenville, Oklahoma and continued his education at Oklahoma State University of Agriculture and Applied Science, earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1971.
Fred worked as a schoolteacher and pursued a successful career as a trainer for racing quarter horses from 1954-1980. He owned and operated a number of great businesses in Stigler, Oklahoma and relocated his family to Palestine, Texas in 1980 to open an auto parts business with three stores in Palestine and one in Tyler. Fred retired in 2000 and he and Mercedes enjoyed a full and happy retirement, living in southern California from 2000-2004 and later in Kingwood, Texas from 2004 to the present. He loved spending time with his entire family and enjoyed frequent family gatherings for holidays and special occasions.
Fred was an exceptional golfer all his adult life, carrying a scratch handicap, remarkable competitive record, including many tournaments wins and recorded 7 hole-in-ones. Fred played golf with an enormous passion and was well known for his skills and capabilities.
