On Tuesday, July 27th, 2021, Ennis Osteen passed away at the age of 77 years old in his home of 47 years in Humble, TX surrounded by his beloved family and holding the hand of the wife of his youth, Elizabeth, who faithfully stood by his side through 50 years of marriage. Ennis was a lifelong member of the Lord's church and served as a deacon at the Humble church of Christ for 37 years. Ennis also served in the United States Army during Vietnam and was stationed in Germany for a year. He received the Sharpshooter Qualification. He held many jobs throughout his life including being an arborist, an educator with HISD, a Harris County Deputy Sheriff, and ultimately retired from METRO after 28 years of service where he was affectionately referred to as "Preacher Man" because of his love for sharing Jesus with others. Ennis was a jovial man who loved to laugh and make others laugh. He was the life of the party, and any room he walked into was a party! He loved entertaining and his New Year's Eve parties for the church youth, with homemade malts and magic tricks, were the stuff of legend! He was a true citizen of the community in which he lived; known by all the neighbors, known by the local librarians, and all of the various working folk throughout the Humble area that he loved to meet and talk with. He was the proud father of Dwight Osteen, David Osteen, and Amy Hunter and the joy of his heart were his eight grandchildren. He loved his brothers Walter Osteen and Jesse Harold (deceased), sisters Susan Gant and Jeanette Hooper, and all of his extended family dearly, and would do anything he could for anyone at any time. He never met a stranger and was always there to help anyone who was in need. Always. He was as hard of a worker as you'll ever meet and devoted his life to serving God and others. He was a giver. He was always giving away to people in need. He was in a horrific motorcycle accident when he was young and always talked about what a wake-up call it was to live his life to the fullest and for the Lord, and He did just that. We are proud and honored to have him as our Husband, Father, Grandpa, Brother, Uncle, and brother in Christ, and we will live to honor the legacy of faith, family, fun, and service that he passed down.
