Donald Richard Cooper left our lives on Tuesday January 29, 2019 in his New Hampshire home with his loving family. Donald lived a joyous life and will be missed by all whose lives were impacted by him.
He was born on September 19, 1938 in Trenton, New Jersey and joined the U.S. Navy at the age of 17. While serving his country, he met his wife, Barbara Madonna and together, they raised five children. He lovingly provided for his family and proudly served his country. After devoting 30 years to the Navy, he retired as Master Chief. Once retired from service, he worked an additional 25 years with Morale Welfare and Recreation at Naval Base Great Lakes, IL.
Donald’s desire was to make people laugh at his dry, sometimes dirty jokes, and because he laughed so hard you couldn’t see his eyes, he was nicknamed, Bye-bye eyes.
Donald will be remembered most for his generosity. Daddy loved his gadgets, if a new one came out not only did he get one, but his children, grandchildren and sisters got one, too.
After the loss of his wife Barbara, Donald said that he wanted to go home to New England. There, he made a new life for himself with his children by starting a farm. He really enjoyed watching the chickens and ducks.
In later years, Don became an avid movie watcher. His favorite was the John Wayne classic, “In Harm’s Way”.
He was never shy to strike up a conversation. He enjoyed people and loved visiting with customers on the farm.
We pray that we filled his heart with our love as he filled us with his. We did love him very much and he will be deeply missed.
Donald is survived by his children; Jeffrey, Andrea, Gregory, Anita and Ariane; nine grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren and his sisters; Carol, Diane and Joyce. He was preceded in death by his wife Barbara, father, Harold Cooper, his mother, Myrtle Knowlton and his brother, Robert Cooper.
With God’s Grace we are filled with his spirit and will miss him every day. We love you Daddy!
