David Blaine Wilkie, Jr., 86 years old, longtime resident of Kingwood, Texas passed away on August 17, 2012 from complications of Alzheimer’s disease. He was born in Abilene, Kansas on September 25, 1925. David crossed over peacefully in the comfort of his own home surrounded by loved ones.
Upon graduation from high school, David served in the Navy. After returning, David entered college at the University of Kansas where he earned a degree in petroleum engineering. An Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts of America, David always had an adventurous spirit and took a job with an oil company in Venezuela. There he met the love of his life, Emma Trevino, a school teacher also working overseas. They married in Edinburg, Texas and started their family in Venezuela. After the birth of their first two children, Allisen and David, the Wilkies moved to Argentina. Here Martha, Mary, and Diane were born. The family shuttled between South America and the Middle East as a result of David’s job with Amoco Oil Company. David was beloved by his family and co-workers. He lived an exciting life and had a passion for jazz music, archeology, scouting, and stamp collecting.
David is survived by Emma, his wife of 55 years, his five children, and seven grandchildren. Visitation will held on Monday, August 20 from 5 to 8 pm at Kingwood Funeral Home. A memorial celebration of his life has been scheduled for 11:00 am on Tuesday, August 21, at Kingwood Funeral Home, 22800 Hwy 59 North.
