Catherine Ann Anderson of Kingwood, Texas passed away July 25,2024 at the age of 80. Cathy was born on April 1st, 1944, to the parents of Mary Mill and William Brown in Coal City, Illinois and had a brother William Brown and sister Carol Brown. She graduated from Coal City High School, Class of 1962 and attended University of Illinois where she graduated with a Bachelor Arts with a teaching certificate in 1966.
After graduation, Cathy traveled throughout Europe for many months before marrying her husband, Paul. They lived in several places, including, Chicago, Houston, and California before settling down in Kingwood, Texas, where they built a family and had lifelong friends. Cathy was a middle school teacher at both Riverwood Middle and Creekwood Middle teaching English and Spanish for 25+ years. Her love for piano led her to be a piano teacher in Kingwood for many years.
She also thoroughly enjoyed playing tennis in her younger years at the Kingwood Country Club and was also an avid reader. She was very adventurous and had a huge passion for going on trips to beautiful places and has a portfolio of wonderful vacations over the years including Norway, the Pacific Northwest, and Canada. Cathy had a passion for beautiful lakes, particularly the George Williams College Camp of Lake Geneva, Wisconsin and Glen Arbor, Michigan which she grew up going to every year. She also loved her recent annual trips to Bar Harbor, Maine where she had been going the last 12 years.
Cathy was a very generous person at heart and one of her favorite hobbies was shopping. She never met a stranger and always wanted to give them a present of some sort and she showered her kids and friends with gifts over the years. She loved being with her friends and family and always cherished these moments. It was hard to find a time when she didn’t have a loving heart and a big smile on her face, and she loved life and always had a positive outlook. She was also a lover of the Arts including the Pops Symphony where she and Paul were ticket holders for 25 years as well as going to as many musicals as she could in various cities.
Cathy and Paul had an amazing and blessed marriage of 55 years which was made wonderful with the addition of one son and daughter, David and Carrie. Their courtship began when she met Paul as the house boy at her sorority at University of Illinois. They had a bond and background that made them the closest and best friends for life. She was also so proud of her children and their generous and loving spirits, and had a love for any golden retriever and had many in her lifetime of which Marley was a staple in their house for 17 years.
Cathy was an active member in the St. Martha's Catholic church in Kingwood where she had many close friends and raised her family. She is preceded in death by both her parents and brother Bill. She is survived by her husband Paul, son David and wife Amy; daughter Carrie and husband Rob Germann; sister Carol; Grandchildren, Alexander, Luke, Ryan, Austin, and Madison. She is also loved by her extended family and all her nieces.
