Winfred Dean Gray 67, passed away peacefully at his home after a decades-long battle with his health on October 9, 2024. His daughters Kaitlyn Gray, Lindsay Elrod and son-in-law (who is more like a son) Levi Elrod were at his side. Winfred, better known as Wimpy to family and friends, was born on May 1, 1957, to parents Willie Dean and Hattie Ruth Gray of Fall Branch.
Wimpy graduated from Daniel Boone High School in 1975 and went to work at Kodak Eastman. He loved riding motorcycles and farming. Family meant everything to Wimpy, and he was a loving son, brother, father and grandfather. Left to cherish his memory are twin daughters, Kaitlyn Gray and Lindsay (Gray) Elrod and son-in-law Levi Elrod and his six grandchildren Ryder Gray, Adaline Elrod, Maddox Gray, Grayson Elrod, Noah Gray and Sawyer Gray. He is also survived by his sister Gail Evans and several nieces and nephews.
Wimpy is preceded in death by his parents and sister Sue Stapleton.
While Wimpy struggled with his earthly body and had limited mobility and speech difficulties, he knew the Lord Jesus Christ, and his family is at peace knowing that he is free of pain while running and singing through Heaven.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 12, beginning at 2:30 p.m. at East Lawn Funeral Home with a service to follow.
