Ruth Horne

M. Ruth Horne, age 90 of Blountville, went home to the Lord the evening of Thursday September 14, 2017. Ruth was born February 24, 1927 in Rogersville, TN to the late Andrew Jackson (A.J.) Greene and the late Alice Clonce Greene, and grew up in the Sunnyside community. On October 5, 1946, Ruth married her knight in shining armor and love of her life Ernest “E.D.” Horne; he preceded her in death on September 5, 1997 after almost 51 years together.

She was a member of Volunteer Baptist Church, and enjoyed spending time with and feeding her family, and growing beautiful flowers and vegetables in her garden. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; her husband E.D. Horne; two sisters Jessie Boggs and Unav Godsey; and three brothers Grant Greene, John Greene and Kyle Greene.

She is survived by her son David Horne and wife Patty; daughters Louise Brummett and husband Allen, and Judy Barnard and husband Brian; two granddaughters Anna Hutchins and husband Billy, and Rhiannon Price and husband Chris; one step-granddaughter Elizabeth Barnard; three great-grandchildren Kristen Hutchins, Jackson Price and Seth Hutchins.

The family will receive friends on Sunday September 17, 2017 from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm at East Lawn Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, immediately following the visitation with Preacher Chris Price officiating. Interment will follow at East Lawn Memorial Park in the Garden of the Apostles with family and friends serving as pallbearers
