Norma “Granny Fred” Johnson entered her final resting place on January 6, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. She is a native of Sullivan County, daughter of Cecil and Willie Ward. Mrs. Johnson worked for North Electric for many years, but later retired from EZ Paintr. Norma was a very devoted mother, grandmother, and sister.
In addition to her parents, she was proceeded in death by her husband, Jim Johnson; her brothers, Charles and Loda; sister, Margaret; and son-in-law, Ray Ward. Left to cherish her memories are her children, Barbara Ward, David Johnson and wife Judy; granddaughters, Brooke Denton and husband Billy, Amanda Proffitt, Rachel Archer and husband David; great granddaughters, Kaylee Archer, Sophia and Claire Denton; and siblings, C.D. Ward, Willie Horton, and Neshma Riggs.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Amedysis Hospice staff Christine, Courtney, and Logan.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm in the chapel of East Lawn Funeral Home. A service to celebrate the life of “Granny Fred” will be held at 7:00 pm immediately following the visitation with Pastor Phip Sams officiating. Interment services will be held on Thursday, January 11, 2018 at 11:00 am, at East Lawn Memorial Park in the Garden of the Mausoleum. Serving as pallbearers will be “Granny Fred’s” immediate family.
