Mary Evelyn "Bubbles" Barger Patterson

Mary Evelyn “Bubbles” Barger Patterson passed away at the age of 84 on September 27, 2014 in Slippery Rock, PA. Born on December 2, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Alvin D. and Lochiel Shipley Barger. She grew up in Kingsport and was a member of Mt. View United Methodist Church and a graduate of Sullivan High School. Mrs. Patterson attended school in Bowling Green, KY and then worked for Ireson Electric in Kingsport before moving to Oak Ridge, TN. She then moved to Deland, FL and resided there for over 40 years.

In addition to her parents Alvin D and Lochiel Shipley Barger, she was preceded in death by her former husband, Fred H. “Pat” Patterson; infant son, Mark Jeffery Patterson; brothers-in-law, Charles H. Barker and H. Eugene Nelms, both of Kingsport.

She is survived by her three children; son, Hugh G, Patterson of Columbia, MO; daughters, Dawn P. Tucci and husband, Blase of Slippery Rock, PA and Sandra P. Balise of Cornelius, NC; two sisters, Betty B. Barker and Marie B. Nelms, both of Kingsport; grandchildren, Cole, Matt and Tre Tucci, all of Slippery Rock, PA; several nieces and nephews; special cousin, Anabell Shipley Kitzmiller; and others; and her special friends who reside in FL, Jack and Audrey DePriest, and Lucy Morgan.

The family will receive friends Saturday, October 4, 2014 from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. at East Lawn Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of East Lawn Funeral Home with the Reverend Harry Fleenor officiating. The burial will follow the service in The Christus Garden of East Lawn Memorial Park.
