Jess “Robert” Birdwell, 78 went home to be with the Lord Sat, May 25th 2019 with close friends by his side. He was born May 31 1940 in Kingsport to the late Benjamin Russell and Betty Cleo Strickler- Birdwell where he spent most of his life as a self-employed contractor/ land developer. He also lived in Santa Anna CA for a short period of time, where he took structural engineering at UCLA, and Fullerton. Then later attended Monroe Institute of Construction. He returned to Kingsport where he developed several subdivisions and was a successful business man and a treasured friend. Robert accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior in October of 2018, and was able to attend Hillcrest Bible Mission.
He is preceded in death by many lifelong Friends and neighbors.

The receiving of friends will be on Saturday, June 1, 2019 from 12:00 to 2:00pm at East Lawn Funeral Home. A celebration of Robert’s life will follow at 2:00pm at the funeral home with Rev. David Castle officiating.
Robert will be laid to rest following the funeral service at East Lawn Memorial Park in the Garden of Peace I.
