Mrs. Lawson was the eldest daughter of Marion “Clay” and Emma “Elizabeth” Roller Hicks. She was born in Kingsport on April 7, 1924.
She was preceded in death by her parents, younger sister, Virginia Hicks Widener; husband, William E. “Bill” Lawson; sons, Billy Gene Lawson and Gary Wayne Lawson; grandson, Anthony Leonard; niece, Sandra Widener Pendleton; and nephew, Ray Widener.
Survivors include sons, Usif (Sandra), Eddie (Connie), Jackie, and Larry; daughters, Brenda Link (Terry) Linda Lawson, and Debbie Leonard; grandchildren, Stuart and Christina Lawson, Brian and Crystal Lawson, Cody (Beth) and Casey Link, Jared Lawson, Chad (Crystal) Leonard and Shania Leonard; great-grandchildren, Jude Link, Parker Link, and Caitlyn Leonard; nephews, Mike Widener (Chris) and Phil Widener.
Mom loved nothing better than shopping and traveling, which she fortunately got to do up until a few weeks prior to her death. She got to see almost all 48 states, as well as a couple of trips to the Caribbean. She was a top-notch seamstress and crocheter until her wrist injuries prevented her from doing it “perfectly”.
Private graveside services will be held Thursday (May 14, 2020) at East Lawn Memorial Park in the Christus Garden. Social distancing and a maximum of 10 people will be allowed due to the Covid-19 guidelines.
“Rest in peace Mom, your job here is done. Enjoy your Heaven, we will see you again someday. You will be very much missed”.
