Edna Mae Sexton Manis, 90, of the Gunnings Community in Blountville, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 9, 2014, in the Asbury Place at Baysmont. Mrs. Manis was born in Raven, Virginia on August 5, 1924 the daughter of the late William Paul Sexton and Pearl Jane Gaddy Sexton. Mrs. Manis was a faithful member and supporter of Gunnings Baptist Church in Blountville where she had taught Sunday school and sang in the choir. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who had a kind heart and unselfish spirit. She displayed the love for her Lord through her kindness and silent service for others. She will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-two years, Franklin John Manis; one son, Ronnie Earl Manis; four sisters, Gladys Sexton, Lucille Smith, Ella Von Gray, Beatrice Pullon; and one brother, Paul Sexton. Survivors include one daughter, Kathy Hartsock Neal and husband Richard, of Blountville, TN.; two sons, Larry Manis and wife Nancy, of Johnson City, TN., and Tony W. Manis and wife Felicia, of Florida; one daughter-in-law, Jean Manis, of Blountville, TN.; five grandchildren, John Manis, Jennifer Manis, Angela Hudson, Amanda Hartsock and Justin Hartsock; and two great-grandchildren, William and Michaela Hudson. The family will receive friends Friday, September 12, 2014 from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at East Lawn Funeral Home. Funeral Services for Mrs. Edna Mae Sexton Manis will be held Friday, September 12, 2014 at 7:00pm in the East Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Bob Ferguson officiating and Pastor J.W. Depew as honorary minister. Graveside Services will be held Saturday, September 13, 2014 at 2:00pm in the Garden of Prayer at East Lawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Danny Owens, Justin Hartsock, John Manis, Ernie Dunn, William Hudson and Randy Hartsock. Honorary pallbearers will be Tim Pullon, Robert Davis, Venus Gray, Johnny Harr, Ricky Owens, Fain Bell, Norman Williams, Howard Rhea, Rodney Cowan, and Danny Hobbs. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the “Volunteer Seedline Publication” at Gunnings Baptist Church, P.O. Box 450 or 199 Shipley Ferry Road, Blountville, TN., 37617 or to charity of choice.
