Donald (Don) Ray Harvey, 74, of Mt. Carmel, entered into rest on Thursday, August 14, 2014 at Church Hill Health Care in Church Hill, TN. He was born on June 10, 1940 in Fayette, West Virginia and was a longtime resident of Mt. Carmel.
He was a faithful member of Oak Grove Baptist Church where he taught Sunday school until his health declined. He retired from Holston Defense after 25 years of service. He had a passion and found great comfort in listening to Gospel music and working in his rose garden.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cauley and Naomi Mastin Harvey. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Elizabeth Rosetta Harvey; daughter, Elesha Cornett and husband, James of Gate City, VA; son, Randall Harvey and his wife, Cindy of Brentwood, TN; his precious granddaughter, Bailey; brother, C. Guy Harvey and his wife, Ella Lou of Charleston, WV; sister, Betty Patterson of Parkersburg, WV; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends, especially Linda McMillian and Marsha Lane.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 17, 2014 from 12:00-2:30 p.m. at East Lawn Funeral Home. Funeral Services will follow the visitation at 2:30 p.m. in the Chapel of East Lawn Funeral Home with Dr. Randall Pressnell officiating. A graveside service will follow in the Garden of the Apostles at East Lawn Memorial Park. Music will be provided by the Lighthouse Quartet and Bertie Shoemaker.
