Brenda J. Shupe, age 70, of Kingsport, entered into rest on Friday, December 16, 2011 at Brookhaven Manor. She was a native of Lee County, Virginia and the daughter of the late Harry Quinton and Thelma Irene Cantor. Mrs. Shupe was a former employee of Holston Valley Medical Center. She also attended Calvary Church of the Nazarene.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by the father of her only daughter, Dee W. Wright, a brother, Charles Cantor and a sister, Pricilla Williams
Survivors include her husband, Gerald L. Shupe, a daughter, Regina Al Smadi and husband Anas, honorary son, Billy D. Jackson, step-daughter, Myrtle Barnett, step-sons: Dannie Shupe, Phillip Shupe and wife Raseanna, David Shupe and wife Melissa, Lawrence Shupe, Randall Shupe and wife Connie, and Ricky Shupe and Dwana Hall; sisters: Ava Gail Bishop and husand Chig, Linda Irene Fausnight and husband Gary and Judith E. Bishop and husband Leonard; brothers: Johnny L. Cantor and wife Connie, Denver Robin Cantor and wife Debby and Eddie R. Cantor and wife Carol; grand God-children: Dania Smadi, Sahara Smadi, Sabrina Smadi, Samraa Smadi, Iman Smadi, Zeina Smadi, Carmen Smadi, Layana Smadi, Petra Smadi, Sanad Smadi, Zaid Smadi and Sarah Smadi; 7 step grandchildren and 14 great-step grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life Service for Brenda J. Shupe will be was conducted on Sunday, December 18, 2011 at 8:00 pm in the East Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with Ministers Randall Shupe and Wayne Scott officiating. The eulogy will be read by her daughter Regina. The family will received friends at the funeral home from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Graveside services were held on Monday, December 19, 2011 at 3:30 in East Lawn Memorial Park. Everyone was asked to assemble at the cemetery by 3:15 pm.
The family would like to send a special thanks to Amedisys Hospice Services and the nursing staff at Brookhaven Manor.
