Alice Meade Tasker, 72, passed away during the early morning hours of Monday (April 3, 2017) after a courageous battle with cancer. Alice was born on September 9, 1944 to the late Charlie & Anna Pearl (McCamy) Meade in St. Paul, VA.
Alice spent most of her life teaching. She was fluent in three languages, Spanish, French, and English. Alice enjoyed traveling and was a Harley Davidson enthusiast; she took many trips to Europe (Paris, France). After retirement from teaching, Alice was the chief financial officer for two businesses, including one of her own.
Alice was a devout Christian and was an active member of Preaching Christ Church. Alice was a loving, wonderful, and amazing wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend to those who knew her; she will be greatly missed.
In addition to her parents, Alice was preceded in death by her husband of 14 years, John Tasker; sister, Barbara Meade Woods; and brother, Charlie Meade, Jr.
Left to cherish her memories are her devoted son, Derek Upchurch; two sisters, Karen Champer and Kaye Craft; two brothers, Kelly Meade and Kerry Meade; sister-in-law, Jeannine Meade; granddaughter, Alexandria Upchurch; great grandson, Christopher “Topher” Hubbard; special friends, Carlos Diaz, Joy Fleenor, Veronica Arellano, Hailey Arellano, Liliana Arellano, Xiomara Arellano, Lisa Bentley, Azucena Rojas, Penny Williams Cordeiro, and Katie & Daniel Holt; many nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
A Celebration of Alice’s life will be held on Saturday (April 8, 2017) at noon at East Lawn Funeral Home with her sister, Karen Champer officiating.
