Ada Caldwell

Ada Viola Caldwell, age 92 of Mt. Carmel departed this life on Friday, April 28, 2017 at her home. She was born November 29, 1924 in Coburn, Virginia to the late Arch Scott Rhea and the late Ida Fay Clark Rhea. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Clarence Caldwell, who passed away in 2011 after 47 years of marriage; her son: Clarence Richard Caldwell ; brothers: Grover Rhea, Burt Rhea, and Bill Rhea; sisters: Dana Kitzmiller, Venus Hicks, Margie Stout, Irene Mirabella and Pauline Gent.

Ada was the youngest of 10 children and she spent most of her time nurturing and caring for her family. She was a faithful member of Vernon Heights Baptist Church, the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW and the Moose Lodge. She spent many hours volunteering at nursing homes and hospitals. As she grew older though, her greatest joy in life was her grandchildren.

Ada leaves behind to cherish her memories, her daughter Debbie Castle and husband Joe of Mt. Carmel, Tennessee; two sons: David Caldwell and wife Pam of Kingsport, Tennessee and Danny Caldwell and wife Mary of Kingsport, Tennessee; 11 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and a host of other nieces, nephews, family and friends.

A funeral service to commemorate the life of Ada Caldwell will be conducted on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at 8:00 PM in the chapel of East Lawn Funeral Home, 4997 Memorial Blvd. Kingsport, Tennessee 37664 with Rev. Chad Roberts officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until the funeral hour at 8:00 PM on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at the funeral home and anytime at the family’s homes. She will be laid to rest on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at 12:00 PM in the Garden of Prayer at East Lawn Memorial Park with her grandsons and friends serving as pallbearers.
