Ray graduated from Kingsley High School in 1940. He enlisted in the US Navy and served during WWII in the South Pacific and the Mediterranean. Ray worked for Cone Drive as a Machinist from 1951 to 1987. He was a UAW member and a life time member of the VFW in Traverse City. Ray loved wood working or "butchering wood", as he liked to call it. He was especially fond of Black Walnut. Ray was also known to be helpful to those in need in his community.
Ray married Rita Wright in January of 2003. They traveled a lot and especially loved spending their winters in Florida and Gulf Shores.
Ray is survived by his wife, Rita; children: Alice Anderson of Kingsley, Thomas Sedlacek of Kingsley, Kristine (Ray) Yanska of Traverse City, and Steph (Lilean) Sedlacek of Kingsley; 11 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren with one on the way, and one great great grandson; brother: Frances "Jake" (Thelma) Sedlacek; step children: Carolyn (Jim) Kik, Sam (Kathy) Wright, Bill (Marcia) Wright, Tom (Robine) Wright, and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Ray was preceded in death by his first wife Lorene Sedlacek, Grandson Aaron Rennie; seven siblings: Vlasta, William, Joseph, Edwin, Henry, Rudolph Jr., and Anna.
A visitation was held Tuesday, April 25, 2017 from 5-8 p.m. at the Covell Funeral Home in Kingsley, with a scripture service at 7:30p.m. A funeral mass was held Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's of Hannah Catholic Church.
Memorial contributions in Ray's name were directed to the family to help with the future Sedlacek Memorial Park.
Arrangements were entrusted to Covell Funeral Home of Kingsley.
