Carl Frank Bauer, age 80, of Kingsley, passed away Tuesday, December 2, 2014 with his wife by his side. He was born September 28, 1934 in the Kingsley farm house on Hannah Rd. to Fred and Anna (Schmuckal) Bauer.
Carl graduated from St. Mary’s Hannah in 1953 and married the love of his life, Flossie I. Duell on September 15, 1956 at St. Mary’s Hannah Church. Together they raised two wonderful daughters. Carl worked as a grounds man, a truck driver, and finally a painter at the Traverse City State Hospital. He retired at the age of 54 after 33 years of service. After retirement he started farming crops full time.
Carl was a lifelong member of St. Mary’s Hannah Catholic Church. He was very active with the church and could be counted on to mash those potatoes every year at the annual Chicken dinner. He also helped with the fall apple pie making. Carl was on the Mayfield Township Board and the Kingsley Co-ops. In his spare time he could always be found at a farm auction with one of his farming brothers.
Carl will be greatly missed by his wife of 58 years Flossie; 2 daughters: Lee Ann (Tom) Weber and Pam (Trevor) Yetter both of Kingsley; 5 Grandchildren: Jay (Kelli), Kali, Holly, Sean (Brooke), and T.J., 2 Great grandchildren: Alex and newly born today, Asher; a sister Valita (Jack) Moon, many nieces, nephews, Flossie’s close brothers and sisters, and farming brothers Al and Milo Schmuckal and Ray Reamer.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents.
A visitation will be held Friday, December 5, 2014 from 4-8pm with a scripture service at 7:30pm at the Covell Funeral Home in Kingsley. A funeral mass will be held Saturday, December 6, 2014 at 10 am with visitation one hour prior at St. Mary’s Hannah Catholic Church. Burial will take place at the church cemetery.
Memorial contributions in Carl’s name may be directed to St. Mary’s Hannah Catholic Church or The Rock of Kingsley.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Covell Funeral Home of Kingsley.
