Cheryl J. “CJ” Heidemann, 70, a former Kimball resident, died in Loveland, Colorado on April 1, 2024. Cremation has been held and Graveside Memorial Services will be held in the Kimball Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 17, 2024. Friends may visit www.cantrellfh.com to share condolences and stories with the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family for future project or charity. The services for CJ have been entrusted to the Cantrell Funeral Home.
Cheryl J. Heidemann was born in Kimball, Nebraska on November 1, 1953, to Marion and Ruth Heidemann. Cheryl attended Kimball County High School and graduated in 1972, she attended college at Chadron State College. Her adventurous spirit took her to Anchorage, Alaska where she graduated from Alaska Pacific University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1989. She lived in Alaska for several years, exploring the state and working in various locations including Purdue Bay. Later, after a short stay in Kimball where she worked at George Risk, Cheryl moved to Colorado where she worked for various companies in quality control in manufacturing and electronics.
Cheryl had several interests and hobbies, which included oil painting, jewelry making, woodworking, and writing short stories and bible studies. She wrote a bible study book called “Devotions for the Rebel at Heart”. Her faith was strong and she volunteered time to her church as a secretary, bible study leader, counselor and more. She had a strong interest in theater and directed several Christian plays the church held, including one she wrote. Cheryl had taken courses to become a minister, completing her first year from Northern Colorado Bible College on May 22, 2004.
She is survived by her sisters, Janet Sears of Greenwood NE., and Dorothy Griffith of Kimball; nieces: Laynette (Travis) Van Anne, Heather (Chris) Amaties, Sheila (Clint) McWaters, Hilary (Justin) Cook and Jesica Griffith; nephews: Dallen (Sheila) Griffith and Kelly Sears: great nieces and nephews: Logan, Nathan, Morgan, Joseph, and Jacob Van Anne; Kate Mason; Jason Amateis; Luke, Lani, and London Sears; Kynlee Griffith; Cailyn McWaters; and Trey, Wyatt, and Allie Cook. Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents, Marion and Ruth Heidemann, Grandparents Herman and Elsie Heidemann, and Chillian and Ruth Williams.
