William Aaron Brinson, born on January 12, 1928, in Pelzer, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on November 24, 2024, in Killeen, Texas. He was the beloved son of the late William Edward Brinson and Laura Louise Dinkens. William was preceded in death by his cherished wife, Erika Karola Biesemann Brinson, in 2018, his son, Josef Brinson, and his siblings, Eula Louise Garrett, Sara Ellen Lollis, and Mary Elizabeth McAlister.
William's life was marked by dedicated service and commitment. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1945, serving with distinction in the 68th US Constabulary Squadron, which played a crucial role in postwar Germany and Austria. His military career included assignments at Camp Gordon, Redstone Arsenal, Aberdeen Proving Grounds, and Fort Hood, Texas. He retired in 1966 as a sergeant, having earned the Army of Occupation Medal, World War II Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal Bronze, and Sharpshooter distinctions for both rifle and pistol.
Following his military service, William embarked on a successful 23-year career as a private investigator with Equifax Services. His commitment to community service was evident in his work with senior activities at the Bob Gilmore Senior Center and his volunteer efforts at Metroplex Hospital Emergency Room and the Greater Killeen Free Clinic. He also served on the Board of Directors of the Hill Country Community Action Association.
William is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth Patton, and his grandchildren, TJ Brinson (Soraya), Laura Swanzy (Chad), and Russell Black (Eva). He leaves behind great-grandchildren Caplin Fell, Kaylee Black, Easton Black, Maraya Brinson, and Nathaniel Brinson. William's legacy of service and love will be cherished by all who knew him.
A visitation for William will be held Monday, December 9, 2024, at 12:00 PM until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 PM at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home, 1615 South Fort Hood Road, Killeen, TX 76542. A committal service will follow at 2:00 PM at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, TX.
