A celebration of life service for Sergio Paul Betts, 27, of Fort Hood, will be at 11:30 a.m. today at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Killeen. Military honor guard will be present. He will be cremated.
Mr. Betts died Sept. 7, 2013. He was born May 1, 1986, in Fairfield, Calif.
He enlisted in the U.S. Army in August 2004 as a cavalry scout (19D). Sergio deployed three times in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation New Dawn. During more than eight years of honorable service he was awarded the Joint Service Commendation Medal, two Army Commendation Medals, two Joint Service Achievement Medals, Army Achievement Medal, two Army Good Conduct Medals, National Defense Service Medal, Global War On Terrorism Medal, Combat Action Badge, and the Driver and Mechanic Badge - Wheeled.
May he rest eternally in Fiddler’s Green.
Survivors include his wife Autumn Betts of Killeen; his mother and father, Josie and Wayne Betts of Carrollton; grandparents, Leonard and Betty Betts; five brothers, Javier, Rafael, Kenny, Michael and Daniel; and two sisters, Monica and Nichole.
Visitation is from 10 to 11:30 p.m. today at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Killeen, which is in charge of arrangements.
