Coach Allen was my history teacher, he coached me on the offensive line, in track, and he was my friend.   I decided to go into teaching & coaching after college, and his example provided a road map of what I wanted to do.   Two of the most important life lessons that he taught me were to be mentally tough, and he reinforced that family is extremely important.  Whenever I've faced some of life's challenges, I can hear his voice reminding me of the lessons he taught us.  We always knew as players that we were blessed to have him in our lives.

I first meet Coach Allen as a student athlete at then Manor Jr High. Then at KilleenHigh School three years later. Our paths would cross again when I became a coach at Smith Middle School and he was at Ellison High.  Later as my own kids entered high school at Harker Heights there he was again helping to mold another generation of future adults.  Later as AD we worked together again as I and my wife worked the video board at Leo Buckley. For over 50 years Coach Allen has impacted my life and the lives of my family.   I hope todays athletes can find a mentor like he was to me.   I have so many stories I could share about Coach if only space and time would allow 

One of the best bosses I ever had! Helped me out so much while I coached with KISD at Ellison and  Shoemaker! I will never forget his advise and helpfulness when "it" was needed. And when I needed "it!" The world of athletics and the world  in general was a better place with you; Coach Allen, in it! 
You will be forever missed by me.

Words cannot describe the impact Martin Allen had on me as a student athlete at A&M Consolidated. He was a great mentor and role model and one of the primary reasons why I pursued a career in education and coaching. He was always a joy to be around and truly inspired all of his players and students to achieve. The stories about Coach Allen are endless, legendary, and will never be forgotten. What a great man and a great life lived. 


Martin was someone I knew growing up and looked up to,  he was a friend as I was a kid, caring and fun to know.  As I became a colleague and fellow  knight  he became a mentor and someone I could more relate to and it was nice when he would ask me about injuries as a professional.  Later Martin sold me my first motorcycle and opened a whole new world to me.  Thank you for being a part of my life and molding me along with my parents into the man I am today.  Prayers for all the family and friends that will always cherish times with Martin. 

Martin was such an awesome friend to me as we coached together at AMCHS.  He was a great role model for the kids and helpful to all the young coaches.  Sending thoughts and prayers to your family.  May God hold you in His loving arms and give you comfort at this difficult time.

I only have wonderful memories of Uncle Martin. He was an amazing, husband, son, son-in-law, father, and uncle. His kindness and strength blessed our family all his life.  He was a man who understood unconditional love like few others. Rest in the Lord for eternity, and I know you’ll be singing some George Strait tunes in heaven. Coach came into the Credit Union regularly to do his business. Most folks just go to the drive through, but he liked to visit and see how everyone was doing. He is one of the most genuine, kind-hearted men I've known.  He made a positive impact in so many lives, mine included, and I'll always love him for that. 

I loved   working with Coach Allen at A&M Consolidated.   A day never went by that he didn't have a story to tell me.   He was a great coach and mentor to many kids.   He will certainly be missed by many.

So sorry to hear of Martin’s passing. I remember when he and I opened E.H.S. In 1978.  I lost track of him for a while but reunited with him when we both began singing in the church choir.  His commitment to the choir along with  his outgoing personality will be truly missed. Prayers are being lifted for you and your family. God Bless!!

We enjoyed his George Strait “Amarillo by Morning” rendition at our cotillion dances.  He and Marcy were always gliding across the dance floor.  We didn’t know him well or for very long but feel fortunate to have met him and his sweet wife.  Todd and I send our sincere condolences and prayers to his family.

Coach was one of the best men that I’ve ever met. He encouraged me to pursue music as avidly as I did sports. Our community has lost one of the greats. 

Martin was always a friend and support and help to me.When I had silly questions about anything in the neighborhood or life he was always there to answer them.He was also very happy and cheerful in church choir at. 1st United Methodist church too.Respectfully Michelle Taylor Holmes

Coach Allen was my football coach in high school at EHS. He was not only my football coach, he was  like  a father figure to me. He would always stop me in the halls and ask me how I was doing and if I needed anything to let him know, and I never forgot it.  Not only was he my coach, he was a mentor  and most importantly, he  took the time out of his busy day to  just listen to me. Years  later he joined the FUMC Killeen Choir and sat next to me and we rekindled our friendship. I continued to call him coach because that’s who he was to me. He taught me more than the X’s and O’s  of football. The advice he gave me as a young boy who had no direction was priceless and I’m forever grateful that God put you in my path. R.I.P. coach. You truly were a servant of the lord and now you are in the arms of our lord and savior.
