I found out yesterday that you passed when I went to your job. I was in complete shock and disbelief. I'll miss your smile, laugh, jokes, and bear hugs. You were always a delight to be around and I wish I took the time to see you more. I know I'll see you again in heaven, but I'll miss you until then.

Words can not express how awesome of a friend Larry was to everyone. Just found out my friend passed away, and my heart is broken he will truly be missed and there will never be another Big D aka Chocolate Macon,GA is miss him dearly

I remember meeting Larry for the first time about 12 years ago at the Temple Home Depot and the first thing that I remember was his bigger than life personality. He walked right up to me and shook my hand and greeted  me with his contagious smile saying that he heard a lot of good things about me. Since then he came to work for me at the Killeen Home Depot and he was more than a supervisor who worked for me he was someone who knew a lot about life and we would often talk about the world and different experiences we both had at home and abroad. if I was having a rough day his talks would often get me back on track. I will miss his guidance and his honest and positive outlook on life.  To the Davis family my deepest condolences and we the Home Depot family will always be here for you. Rest easy Larry. 

I will miss my friend dearly, but the friendship we had will never be forgotten from this day until we meet again. 



Davis, you will definitely be missed! I remember seeing you at Walmart with your two handsome sons in Killeen after so many years and you were the same genuine and funny " Big D"! Davis "Big D" was my first roommate at FT. Hood back in 96'. He always kept us laughing, couldn't have a better friend then him. He will be missed. RIP my friend.

I had the pleasure of meeting him day one when he first got to the unit.  He was motivated and all but we all played football together which  was a lot of fun. To see him smiling and cracking jokes with Lee, Ware mostly but everyone.  The main point I will say is that he was the type of person that made a long tired day more enjoyable and fun. Basically I’m saying he was family from the beginning and can’t say enough  about how this hurts but he will definitely be missed.

I SERVED 2 TOURS IN IRAQI WITH HIM AND WATCH HIM  GROW FROM A YOUNG SOLDIER IN 1997 TO BECOME A REALLY GOOD NCO AND MENTOR LATER ON. ALWAYS WAS THE ONE THAT EVERYONE WANTED TO BE AROUND AND FOLLOW . MY HEART IS HEAVY. I WILL ALWAYS HAVE FOND MEMORIES OF HIM AND THE GOOD TIMES AT FORT HOOD AND KOREA . MY CONDOLENCES TO HIS FAMILY AND FRIENDS.RIP MY BROTHER.

Last time I saw or spoke with Davis was in 1999 at Ft.hood. I wasn’t really close to Davis, but he was one of the few who’s name I remembered immediately all these years later. I don’t think I ever saw Davis in a bad mood, even when we were cleaning a connex under the July heat in Texas, he was always upbeat. I’m not sure what happened, but he definitely didn’t deserve to  be taken from his friends and family so soon. 

Sergeant Davis was a great guy, funny and someone you could count on. I was stationed in Korea and Ft hood. My condolences to the family and all our brothers and sisters that had the honor of knowing him. R.I.P Larry Davis. SSG Alva. 

I remember Big D, being a uplifting guy and always in good spirits. He was the first person to invite me to his house when I arrived to Ft Hood in 1998. I have nothing but good memories when thinking about him. He was a great soldier and friend. He will be truly missed! Sorry for the family lost.  God bless his family.

Larry  Davis was a good man one of the coolest brother I've ever met. We had many good times while stationed together at Hood and Korea.  It was a honor and privilege RIP my brother you will be truly missed

My condolences to the family of this good man. It's terrible to see someone leave when they have touched so many people when they were here.  When I was a young private coming into the army I needed guidance on how I should proceed with my life. Larry and my leaders showed me the ropes and helped to guide me to being a decent soldier and young man. As funny as he was and as kind hearted he helped shape a lot of young men and women for the better. I will always be forever grateful to him and others for what they did for me and I have tried to do the same for many more. Thank you Larry and enjoy yourself on the other side. 

Sergeant Davis was one of the funniest people I’ve ever met. He was in the 157th Quartermaster Company when I arrived as a brand new Officer in 2003 right before the Iraq War began.  He was always lightening the mood and making everyone around him smile, even when things were very tough all around us.  He will definitely be missed and I’m thankful to have served with him. Rest In Peace Sergeant Davis!

Waking up to this news this morning  sits heavy. I remember us meeting at our first duty station (15th BSB) twentysomething  years ago. We had our own little crew (family) and created many so many memories.   Thank you for all the wonderful memories my friend 


As I prepare myself to go see my friend Larry and I wanted to leave a few words for his other friends and family. First of all, Larry is an absolute treasure and he means the world to so many people. I am so fortunate like many others to be able to call him a friend. Larry was always the first to help, the first to smile and he had the best laugh that could change anyone’s day.  I will forever miss hearing him say “Here I come” whenever you asked for help, just like the day he came and helped us when my truck broke down in Harker Heights. I called him and there he was with a big smile ready help. I will miss our talks about sports, TV, movies, BBQ and about our kids. To Larry’s boys, I know he loves you, he is proud of you and he brought me a picture of you three together one day to show you off. I hope everyone can find peace in his love and the kindness he gave to everyone around him.  Thank you Larry for the gift of your friendship. 

I’m remembering the crazy days we shared in Korea and during my visits to Texas and am deeply saddened that we won’t have an opportunity to make new memories. My brother...you’re definitely second to none. I’m SO grateful for the time we shared and the lessons I learned from your nuggets of wisdom. I am praying that God comforts and strengthens your family, especially  your  boys,  during this difficult season. I know that HE doesn’t make any mistakes but must be honest and say I don’t understand why you had to leave so soon. There’s so much more to be said but I will share the rest when we meet up again. Larry was a true gentle giant, with a big, loving heart.  He gave the best hugs and always had huge smile.  I loved hearing him laugh.  Larry was always willing to help no matter how busy he was. I'm going to miss him saying "Here I come" whenever I called him.   Larry, I will miss you!  My deepest heartfelt condolences to Larry's family.  We are grieving with you. 

Larry was one of my best friends! He was like my brother! He would do anything for you! He was such a loving and caring person! I will definitely miss him!
