John Z Bales Jr. (Johnny)

John Z Bales Jr. (Johnny), 76, of Salado, passed away Saturday, April 2, 2022 at Baylor Scott & White Hospital in Temple, Texas. He was born in Cameron, Texas on January 23, 1946 to J.Z. and Evelyn (Cryer) Bales.

He graduated from Killeen High School in 1964. He attended college for a short time and then joined the U.S. Navy in 1966. He served as an Electronics Technician (nuc) and returned home after his discharge. He managed the family business in Killeen, Texas for many years and later worked at Fort Hood, Texas until he retired.

He was proceeded in death by his father, mother, brother and sister. He is survived by his wife, Catherine (Cathy) Sue (Cosper) Bales of Salado, Texas; Willie & Debbie (Daughter) McClure of Conroe, Texas; John (Son) & Kim Bales of Troutville, Virginia; Jamie (Brother) & Nan Bales of Harker Heights, Texas; 3 grandchildren (Ashley, Brittany, Lauren), 2 great grandchildren (Darien, Vivian) and many cousins, nephews and nieces.

Graveside services will be 10:00am Monday April 11, 2022 at Friendship United Methodist Cemetery in Buckholts, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Baylor Scott & White Central Texas Foundation or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
