Jo joined that “great cloud of witnesses” on April 25, 2017. She was born on February 23, 1933 in Leon Junction, Texas to Dave and Ruth Brumbalow. It was at Killeen High School where this Football Queen met the love of her life, Everett “Skipper” McQueen. After graduating with the class of 1950, they were married on April 13, 1952. Jo and Skip are long time members of the Belton Church of Christ. Before having children, Jo was Secretary to the Commanding Officer at Killeen Base (now West Fort Hood) in a high security facility under the command of the Atomic Energy Commission. When her daughters came along, she resigned to raise her children until they began school, at which time she went back to work as Secretary to the Killeen Base doctor. When the Base closed in 1969, she went to work in the Civilian Personnel Office at Fort Hood. Jo was preceded in death by her daughter Laura, her parents, and her brother Fred “Monk” Brumbalow. Survivors include her husband of 65 years and her daughter Carla. She loved her family and will be dearly missed by all those she left behind. The family is grateful to the kind and compassionate Nurses, CNAs, and Doctors who so tenderly cared for Jo during her time at Scott and White 4 North. Our thanks to the S&W Palliative and Hospice care teams. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice. Arrangements under the direction of Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home, Killeen, TX.
