Deborah Lyn Relitz Reed went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ the morning of October 16th, 2022 in the comfort of her home in Killeen, Texas after many years of illnesses. She was 63 years old at the time of her passing. She was under the loving care of her husband Victor, aka Buddy.
Debbie was born August 19th, 1959 in Moab Utah to Charles Relitz and Regina “Jean” Keoppen, the third born of four children. She married her husband Victor on July 20th 1982 in Augsburg, Germany.
She was raised in Islip, NY, where she graduated at Islip High School in May 1979. She joined the Army shortly after, where she served as an Intelligence Analyst throughout her career, from 1979 to 1995. She served in various Military Intelligence units throughout her career, including two tours in Augsburg, Germany, two tours at Fort Hood, Texas, where she deployed to Saudi Arabia and Iraq in support of the Gulf War from 1990 to 1991. She retired as a Staff Sergeant while assigned at the National Security Agency, Fort Meade, MD in May 1995 with full benefits and honors. She attained numerous commendations and awards throughout her career. After retirement, she became a homemaker, supporting Victor as he continued his military career and later as a military contractor and civil servant.
She was proceeded in death by her parents and two sisters, Donna Chipana and Janet Ramirez, both of Central Islip, NY and Brother-in-Law Kelley Kevin Reed of Meeker, OK.
She is survived by her husband of 40 years Victor of Killeen, Mother-in Law Dixie Kelley Reed of Shawnee, OK and stepmother-in-Law Patricia Reed of Pasadena, TX; her stepson Victor "Trey" Reed and his wife Tawnya and stepdaughter Jennifer Reed Duarte and her husband Tony; and five step-grandchildren, Colby Reed, Caleb Reed, Jaden Gallegos, Brianna Andrews and Emily Andrews. Her brother Michael Starr and his wife Krista of Bellevue, WA, and Brother-in-Law Vince Reed of Thompson Station TN. Four nieces Leeanna Chipana, Michael Ramirez and his daughter Savannah, Regina Ramirez, Christopher Starr and his wife Liz and Katherine "Katie" Starr Steward and her husband Chris.
Debbie loved taking care of her husband, gardening and her pets; her dogs Bo and Meda and her cats Alfie, Annie and Smitty. In lieu of flowers, Debbie would rather you donate to a local animal shelter in her name or to Journey Home Rescue in Temple, TX.
