Dalila Velez-Martes

Services for Dalila Velez-Martes will be 12:30 pm on Monday November 30, 2015 at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Killeen. Dalila was born August 28, 1923 in Carolina Puerto Rico to Juan Hernandez and Monserrata Rodriguez de Jesus and passed away peacefully at Cibolo Creek Nursing Home on November 25, 2015. Dalila met her soul mate, best friend and husband, Juan at a prayer meeting in November 1950. On December 8, 1950 Juan and Dalila married and were together for 56 years before Juan preceded her in death on December 19, 1950. Dalila was a devoted wife and mother, although she only had three children she helped raise many other family members over the years to include her grandchildren Loren and Jaclyn Bustos, and Elizabeth Pastrana and Aydie Rozales. Dalila traveled extensively in the U S and overseas with her husband Juan. She made many friends from all nationalities. In spite of all her travels she loved her Killeen, TX making it her home for more than 40 years. Dalila was preceded in death by husband, Juan, son George Velez-Martes, beloved Elizabeth Pastrana, and her parents Juan Hernandez and Monserrata Rodriguez de Jesus. Survivors include daughter, and son-in-law Wanda Velez-Begnoche and Paul Begnoche of Fair Oaks Ranch, TX grandson Loren Bustos and his wife Andrea and cherished little great-granddaughter Lily Jane from Pittsburg PA, granddaughter Jadyn Bustos from Pittsburg, PA, son Eligio Rivera from Rio Piedras, PR and granddaughter Elza Rivera from Worchester, MA. The family will receive visitors from 11-12:30 Monday at the funeral home.
