David enlisted in the Army in December of 1969. Along with serving in Korea and Germany, he is a veteran of the Vietnam War. He retired from the U.S. Army in 1997 as Command Sergeant Major of the 19th Maintenance Battalion at Fort Sill, OK. During his service in the U.S. Army, he was a recipient of numerous awards and recognitions, including the Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal, and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal for his service in combat. Following his military career, he was an active member of the Retired Sergeants Major Association.
David is preceded in death by his parents, Willard & Christine.
He leaves loving memories to his wife, Chom, of Killeen; his two daughters, Lavanna and her husband, Ashar Zaman, of Winter Springs, FL, Lena and her husband, Trey Dzialo, of Norman, OK; nine grandchildren, Alisa, Kieran, Aydin, and Asher Zaman, Layla, Jenna, Sam, Ben, and Amelia Dzialo; two sisters, Marilyn Daniel of Norman, OK and Jackie Foster of Dallas, TX; and a host of family and friends.
Services will be at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home of Killeen. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 20, 2017 from 5-7pm. Funeral service will be Thursday, December 21, 2017 at 8:30am. Burial will be at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery with full Military Honors at 10am.
