Arthur "Shorty" Smith

Services for "Shorty" Arthur Wendell Smith 72, of Belton, formerly of Killeen will be held at 2:00pm Friday, May 30, 2014 at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home chapel in Killeen. He passed away Friday, May 23, 2014 in his home in Belton.

Pastor Jack Husung Sr. will officiate, burial will follow at Gillum Cemetery in Oakalla, TX.

Shorty was born March 5, 1942 in Lampasas, TX to Marvin Allen Smith and Charity G. Queen Smith. He married Jo Lou Ford Smith February 7, 1964 in Killeen TX., he lived in the Killeen area all of his life.

He was a member of the Texas Cattleman's Association, Board Member of the Central Texas Children's Center, Board Member of WCID and he was a Mason. Shorty retired from the Civil Service at Fort Hood with 30+ years.

Mr. Smith is preceded in death by his wife Jo Lou Smith in 2010.

Survivors include his sons; Dennis Smith, and Clinton Smith both of Belton, three grandchildren; Reesa Smith of Killeen, Hunter Smith of Mertzen, and Riley Smith of Evant a sister, Geraldine Tongish and a brother, Melvin Smith.

The Family will receive friends for visitation at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Thursday, May 29, 2014.
