Funeral services for Alexander Oge, 82, of Belton will be at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home Chapel in Killeen. Burial with full military honors will follow in Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen. A reception will follow the services at American Legion Post 573, 225 E. Cox Drive, Harker Heights, TX 76513.
Mr. Oge died Dec. 16, 2010, at a Temple hospital. He was born March 7, 1928, in Ville Platte, La., to Alexion and Olivia (Fontenot) Oge. He retired from the Army as a sergeant first class in 1969 after more than 22 years of faithful service and served during the Korean and the Vietnam wars. He was an active member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Disabled American Veterans. He served as past commander of American Legion Post No. 573.
Mr. Oge enjoyed fishing, gardening, was an avid music enthusiast, and he really enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys. He belonged to the Rod and Gun Club in Fuerth/Nurnberg, Germany, and at Fort Hood.
Mr. Oge was preceded in death by his parents; two older brothers, Calvin and Allen; two younger brothers, Lee Ardoin and Gene Ardoin; five younger sisters, Marion Oge, Mabris Johnson, Viola Gobel, Berna Mae Young and an infant sister.
Survivors include his three sons, David Oge and his wife, Debbie, of Shreveport, La., Wayne Oge of Maxdale and Shawn Oge of Louisiana; two daughters, Yvonne Parker of Cedar Hill, Tenn., and Patricia Oge of Harker Heights; four grandchildren, Carrie, Carolyn, Heather and Shane; and two great-grandsons, Noah and Caleb.
