It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Sarah Rose Anderson, a cherished soul whose vibrant and commanding presence left an indelible mark on everyone she met. Sarah departed from this world December 1, 2024 at the age of 63, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and creativity.
Sarah was a gifted poet, whose words danced off the page and touched the hearts of many. Her love for writing poetry was a reflection of her deep and sensitive spirit, capturing the beauty and complexity of life in each verse. She had a remarkable ability to weave emotions into words, creating a tapestry of stories that will continue to inspire and comfort those who read her work.
Beyond her literary talent, Sarah was known for her wickedly funny sense of humor. Her quick wit and playful jokes brought joy and laughter to those around her. Sarah’s ability to find humor in the everyday and her infectious laugh were a testament to her positive outlook on life.
A passionate animal lover, Sarah’s compassion extended to all creatures, great and small. She dedicated much of her time to advocating for animal rights and caring for her beloved pets. Her home was always filled with the warmth and love of her furry friends, each one holding a special place in her heart.
Sarah’s presence was nothing short of magnetic. She had a vibrant energy that drew people in, and her commanding presence made her a natural leader and cherished friend. Sarah’s unwavering strength, kindness, and generosity of spirit left a lasting impression on everyone she encountered.
Though she may no longer be with us, Sarah’s legacy will live on through her poetry, the memories shared with her loved ones, and the countless lives she touched. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

Sara Rose Anderson, a well-known resident of Grassy Narrows First Nation, Ontario passed away at her residence on Sunday, December 1, 2024.
Sarah was predeceased by her grandmother Rosie Nora Necanapenace, her parents Arthur Anderson and Dora Petiquan-Anderson, her eldest daughter Shantel Anderson.
She is survived by her children Summer Cheryl Rose Anderson (Amy Summer Minaker), Sheryl Alana Rose Anderson, her siblings Allan Anderson, Barney Anderson, Phyllis Anderson, Arthur Anderson Jr. and Randall Anderson-Gray.
She is also survived by her nieces Sky Anderson, Alana Pahpasay, her nephews Chance Anderson, Dana Pahpasay, Tyler Anderson, as well as many relatives and friends too numerous to mention.
A wake service will be held on Thursday, December 12, 2024 at 3:00pm at Trappers Building, Grassy Narrows, Ontario. A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 13, 2024 at 11:00am at Trappers Building with Elder Howard Copenace leading the ceremony with cremation to follow.
