Mederic Lemay, a resident of Pinecrest Home for the Aged passed away on September 1, 2023 at the age of 93.
He was born on February 20, 1930 in Norman, Ontario to Archie and Amanda Lemay.
He was predeceased by two daughters, Louise Lemay in 2017, and Debby Van Walleghem in 2022, her son-in-law David Van Walleghem in 2008 and grandson-in-law Darren Whitta in 2022. He was also predeceased by all of his brothers and sisters, Juliette, Angela, Nona, Romeo, Dawn, Ernest and Jeanette.
He is survived by his wife Mary Ellen, they were married in 1953, seventy years ago. He is also survived by two daughters, Teresa Csuzdi (Ray), Maureen Lemay, and son Murray Lemay (Joelle). He has ten greatly loved grandchildren, Stacey (Darren), Sean (Brie), Christopher, Jeff (Cindy), Amanda, Michelle (Vaughn), Eric (Chantal), Mathew (Vanessa), Megan (Devon) and Tyler.
As well as 12 great grandchildren who he was very fond of. These great grandchildren are the 13th generation of the Lemay family in Canada, their ancestors coming in 1653 from Anjou, France.
He worked many jobs during his life to provide for his family, but his favourite was construction which he retired from in 1992.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2023 at 11:00 am at Notre Dame Roman Catholic Church with Father Rudy Manaloto officiating, followed by a luncheon.
He will be interred with his parents Archie and Amanda Lemay at the Lake of the Woods Cemetery.
