(September 16th, 1954 - November 29th, 2020
It is with extreme sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Laura Landry announces the passing of our beloved Laura, after a difficult battle with Alzheimer’s disease, residing in Pinecrest Home since January 2020.
She will be deeply missed by her husband of 48 years, Don Landry, daughter Crystal Landry and her only Grandchild Jarod Landry.
Surviving Laura are her 3 sisters, Sandra Frost(Herb), Margaret Tella (Tony), both from Kenora, and Mary Brunet(Marc) from Sudbury. Also surviving Laura are brother in law Bob Smith and sister in laws Diane Burgess from Kenora and Diane Wilder from Winnipeg.
She was predeceased by her brother Ernie Burgess and sister in laws Noella Perchyshyn and Carol Smith, and brother in law John Wilder from Winnipeg. Laura was also predeceased by her parents Elsie and Norris Burgess and her Mother and Father in laws Margaret and Oscar Landry, all from Kenora.
Laura was always very happy if some of our nieces and nephews showed up at family events. They included Paula James(Pat), Dean Smith(Jana), Justin and Alex Frost, Jasin Burgess(Margo), Zoe
Roblin(Brian), Tara Hayden(Kevin), Carly Wilder, John Frost(Allison), Patrick Brunet(Brianna), Sarah and Kyle Tella, and we would not want to forget her many Grand nieces and nephews.
Laura was a very special homemaker to her family and friends alike. Her warm smile was contagious and she made others smile when they were around her. She made many friends during her working years including stores such as Eatons, Bill’s Shoe Box, Safeway, The Pet Store, Zellers, The Flower Shop, and McDermid’s Lumber. She also spent many years during the summer months helping out to keep the camp on Treaty Island, one of the most talked about properties on Lake of the Woods. As Busy as
she was, Laura still found the time to care for her family, upkeep the house, and help keep the yard and garden looking great.
Over the years our family pets, Dusty, Casey, and Rocko always knew who to follow when they wanted a treat or a cuddle.
Our family was blessed in so many ways to have shared our lives with Laura. A beautiful, caring and kind Wife, Mother, and Grandmother. Rest in Peace Laura. You will live on in our hearts and memories forever.
The family would like to sincerely thank the staff of the Sunset Country Family Health Team and the Paterson Medical Centre for all of the help they provided for Laura in the early stage of her illness.
During a very stressful time with the threatening spread of the Covid-19 Virus, we cannot express our thanks enough to all of the staff at Pinecrest Home and especially the entire nursing staff that cared for Laura and made her life and ours as caregivers much more bearable.
Cremation has taken place.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
