Larry Zweep
December 5, 1939 - May 11, 2012
Peacefully Larry George Zweep (Zweepers) passed away on May 11th, 2012 at home at the age of 72.
Larry was born in South Gilles on December 5th, 1939. He lived the first half of his life in Thunder Bay and the latter part in Kenora. He spent his career with the Ministry of Corrections starting as a guard but spent the majority of his time as a Baliff, transferring to Kenora and retiring as the Assistant Deputy Superintendent of the Kenora jail.
He was a well known fastball pitcher in his early years enjoying the camaraderie of his teammates. Many a memory was made at a backyard party after a game.
Raising his family in Thunder Bay, there was never a lot of money but always an abundance of love and fun.
After moving to Kenora, he found his new passion, Golf! He always strived for a better score. He and Rhodella spent many hours fishing on Lake of the Woods. Finally with Rhodella's luck and without the help of Ray and Jim he was finally able to catch fish. But it's Rhodella's big catch that hangs on the livingroom wall.
Larry is survived by his loving wife Rhodella. He loved and was loved by his children Jo-Anne (Ray) Hogard; Michelle (Bryan) Toderick; Kathy Novak; Debbie Zweep and son-in-law Jim Ball. Step-children Cindy (Paul) Kennedy; Kelly (Greg) Arnold; Lorne (Natalie) Gleeson. His grandchildren Justin (Karen) Ball; Myles (Mandy) Ball; Alycia and Ian Novak; Katelin Hogard; Breanne and Zachary Toderick; Adriann, Shaun & Sarah Kennedy; Cole Arnold; Amanda & Ryan Gleeson. Great grandchildren Parker and Alexis Ball. Also survived by his sister-in-law Jo-Anne Wenzell (the sister he never had) and Frances Clark.
Predeceased by his parents George & Myrtle; his first wife Rita Zweep; in-laws Ed & Jean Achtenberg and Joseph & Ida Brassard; son-in-law Raymond Novak.
Larry was a devoted and loving husband, father, step-father and papa. He was the life of party with his quick wit and sense of humour. His fondness for teasing, especially his grandchildren, will be cherished forever.
He will be missed and forever loved.
