With broken hearts and with great sorrow we are sadden to announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Kelvin Kent with loving wife, children, uncle Philip Kent and family by his side. Kelvin left us on wings to join his family on the other side on Thursday February 27, 2025 at HSC.
Kelvin was a loving, smart, funny, generous, talented, helpful and devoted human. He was one of a kind. He was an amazing partner and father. Kelvin and his wife raised children, they were loving foster parents and who Traditionally adopted Zak, Faith and Adam. This was the moment this family waited for is to become a family.
Kelvin and Barb also welcomed Jersey and Monique into their home as their grandchildren. Kelvin always had Zak and Adam by his side, teaching them how to help others by performing outdoor chores and other basic skills. The most important teaching that was taught by Kelvin is how to be respectful, loving, to respect and to be brave.
Everyone that Kelvin touched hearts with was with love especially to his siblings, he loved them unconditionally. Kelvin was born in Whitedog Ontario on September 10, 1970. He was employed with Wabaseemoong Band as Head Custodian for so many years. During his employment he made many close friends and was always there for his co-workers. Kelvin treated everyone equally, he was a gem to his family and friends.
Kelvin is left to mourn his loving and devoted wife Barb Kent, his children; Andrea (Pungeese), Christine Henry and children, Raeleen Henry and children, Zak Fisher, Faith and Adam Smith, Jersey (Brody) and Monique.
Kelvin will also be missed by his loving eldest sister Audrey Mandamin, and baby sisters, Marilyn Kent, Jacqueline (Harvey) Kent, his brothers, Jack Scott, Jay (Jo) Kent, James (Tonia) Kent. His nephews; Jay Jr. (Shania), Ayden Mandamin, Marty, Acelin, Tony, James, Erik, Therein, Benji (Jodie), CJ, Johnny, Patrick. His nieces; Ashley (Roel), Jaylynn, Jaycey (Darcy), Jayde, Martella, Kaleigh, Emma, Hannah, Erykah, Jaclyn, DeeDee, Linda, Lindzy, Teesha and Michelle. His loving uncle Philip (Gladys) Kent Sr., his aunties; Sandra (Tom), Mary Jane (Tonto), Joyce and Emily. Cousins, Bruce, Marcel (Rina), Waylon Scott, Pauline Kent, Philip Jr. (Laura), Bonnie, Joey (Christine) Mandamin, mother-in-Law Nora Vandal, Brenda and Pete, Donna and Carl.
He was predeceased by his parents, Jack and Linda Kent, his siblings, Glen Kent, Karen (Jason) Kent, uncles; Jimmy Scott, Maurice Muckle Jr., Aunties, Jessie, Debbie, Rhonda, Valerie, Linda Muckle, Lorraine Major and Loretta White. Grandparents, Cornelius and Mary Jane Scott, Mary (Maurice Sr.) Muckle and Albert Seymour, and his cousins; Gary C, Eric, Leroy, James, Steven, Keith, Samantha, Shauna and Crystal, his niece and nephews; Sondra Mandamin, Joel Jughead Mandamin, Dante Kent and Sebastian.
The family of Kelvin Kent would like to send a heartfelt thank you to; Wabaseemoong Chief and Council, WCWA, Lake of The Woods Hospital, HSC Winnipeg, Roanne for all the extra help, Colleen Paishk for the support and help throughout our trying times, to Pauline Kent and Annette Muckle for the emotional support and being there for Kelvin and family, to Joey and Christine Mandamin for all the love and support you have shown and being there til family got home, mother Rose Kelly, Philip Kent for sitting with Kelvin and his family til he took his last breathe, Minister Ernest Kematch for a wonderful healing service to Kelvin and family, as well as Pastor Angie Cameron for her lovely prayer. To everyone else who was here to support and help us, we say Kitchi-Miigwech.
A wake service will be held on Wednesday, March 5, 2025 at 3:00pm at WCWA Building, Whitedog, Ontario. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2025 at 10:00am at WCWA Building with Elder Howard Copenace officiating a traditional ceremony, burial will follow in Whitedog First Nation.
Pallbearers will be Benji Kent, Jay Kent Jr., Joey Mandamin, Tristen Mandamin, Jasper Mandamin, Tony Kent, Therein Mandamin and Erik Mandamin.
Honorary Pallbearers are Jay Kent Sr., Jack Scott, James Kent, Zak Fisher, Adam Smith, Brody Paishk and the rest of Kelvin's family.
