Joyce was born in Carberry, Manitoba June 21, 1954. She spent time in Pistol Lake where her father was employed in the building of the Whitedog Dam. They lived for awhile in their trailer on a rail flat car in Minaki while waiting to be offloaded and moved to Pistol Lake. After construction they returned to Carberry until the passing of her mother, when she then moved with her father to Kenora at the age of 14 to be closer with other family members.
She met the love of her life Jim in 1969, and were married November 27, 1971 in Kenora. They spent many memorable years together raising their three daughters and spending time with the grandchildren at their cottage on Little Gordon Lake. Joyce enjoyed many hours creating and crafting costumes, Barbie clothes, dresses for her girls, quilting and gardening. The annual Densley family pig roast was an event she looked forward to. Hearing the laughter, the love and fun of her family enjoying the lake, camp fires, and running through the mud with the quads. Joyce had a love for lighthouses and anything nautical.
Anyone who has visited the cottage would see the full scale of her passion. Joyce had a great and deep faith in her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ and was assured of her place in Paradise.
She was employed at Lake of the Woods Hospital in the Housekeeping & Laundry departments for 20+ years and made some amazing friendships.
A Celebration of Joyce's life will be held on Monday, May 8, 2023 at 11:00 am at Lakeside Baptist Church.
In honour of Joyce, in lieu of flowers, donations to Lakeside Baptist Church - youth ministry would be greatly appreciated by the family.
The family would like to give a very special thank you to Paramedics Wade Gagnon and Dave Francis who went above and beyond the call of duty to ensure Joyce arrived safely at the Winnipeg Health Sciences Centre. Family would also like to thank the Doctors and Nursing staff at the Lake of the Woods District Hospital, the Thunder Bay Regional Hospital and Winnipeg Health Sciences Centre for their care and compassion during this difficult time. She had a special place in her heart for the staff at the Chemo Department at the Lake of the Woods District Hospital.
I heard the voice of Jesus say, "Come unto me and rest; Lay down, 0 weary one, lay down your head upon my breast." I came to Jesus as I was, so weary, worn, and sad; I found in him a resting place, and he has made me glad.
