Gary Edward Lindstrom

Gary Edward Lindstrom, a lifelong resident of Kenora, died on January 5, 2021 at the District of Kenora Home for the Aged. Gary was born on June 12, 1939 in Kenora and was 81 years old. He was predeceased by his parents, Carl and Olga (Sandstrom) Lindstrom, his infant brother Gerald and sister Marie Riley. He is lovingly survived by his sister Sharon Nandzik of Loves Park, Illinois, niece Sarah Bexell of Englewood, Colorado, nephew, Aaron Bexell of Beloit, Wisconsin and great niece Carrie Riley and her daughter Samantha of Toronto, Ontario. Gary is also survived by cousins Florence Boylan, Myrna Voell, Leone Durham, Ray Landry and Lois Hinton-Tubret.

Gary worked for his uncle at ‘Tom Hinton’s Mens and Boys Wear’ in Kenora for 40 years. He was a lifelong member of Bethesda Lutheran Church and served as an usher there for many years. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion where he often “worked the elevator”. He was also an avid bowler, being named “bowler of the month” many times. Gary loved to meet and greet everyone he knew in Kenora. He loved to tease and be teased, especially when visiting the Fire Hall and Police Station. He was thrilled when a policeman gave him a ride home in the cruiser telling him to “stay out of trouble”. He was very proud of his baseball cap collection from every business and baseball or hockey team.

He was blessed with the loving care and assistance of his Kenora cousins, Barton and Nancy Bergman, Glen Anderson and Jan Lindstrom in the last several years of his life.

Private family graveside Service will be held on Monday, January 18, 2021 at 1:00 pm at the Lake of the Woods Cemetery with Pastor Cathy Giroux officiating.
