He was predeceased by his parents Mary Louise Paul (Bluebird) and David Paul Sr., his sisters Virginia Paypompee (Paul), Theresa Paul, brothers Samuel Paul, Paul Muckle and Frances Paul and his grandchildren Gregory and Bradley Hunter.
He is survived by his children Michelle Bird, Francis Eric Paul, Leslie Cheyenne (Dwayne) Young (nee Paul) and Julianna Paul. His will also be missed by his siblings David Paul Jr., Sophia (Timothy) Copenace, Conroy Paul, Lorne Paul aka Peter Ross, Robert (Glenna) Dawson, Christopher Paul, Shelley McDonald and Robert ‘Bobby’ Muckle Sr. He is also survived by his grandchildren Vanessa, Ethan, Elias, Paisley and Eden Paul, Sage Alexander, Ricky, Mya, Marlie, Sophia, Dwayne and Sara Young, Keanu and Mikka Dumas-Paul and River Peters, he will also be missed by nieces and nephews David Paul III, Winter (Snow) White, Jonathon Paul-Namaypoke, Bella Longslands, Indiana Dawson-Paypompee, Robert Preston Muckle Jr., Isaiah Ritch-Paul and Rolena Hunter.
Francis was a was a self-taught, well known artist throughout Canada, Europe and the United States. In his younger years and throughout his life he enjoyed playing guitar and was recruited and played in the band called ‘Feathermen’. He not only created beautiful art he also enjoyed creating and completing sculptures with pipestone once created, and seen all were purchased immediately. He was very creative and his work would take from days and months to complete in the greatest detail. When given the opportunity he would always share his abilities to the children of his community.
A wake service will be held on Friday, July 8, 2022 at 11:00 am at Northwest Angle 33 First Nation Complex, Northwest Angle 33 First Nation. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 9, 2022 at 11:00 am at Northwest Angle 33 First Nation Complex with interment to follow at Lake of the Woods Cemetery.
