Don Bennett, age 49, passed away peacefully on Friday December 13, 2019 at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Science Centre. Don was born September 19, 1970 in Kenora, ON to Betty Loon of Grassy Narrows and Clovis Meekis of Sandy Lake. He was raised in St Mary’s ON, by Al (pre-deceased) and Jill Bennett
He was survived by his two daughters Madison and Sydney. His siblings on his mother's side; Mike (Marie) Bennett, Lori (Al) Facchinato, Bernadine Bennett (Dewett), Emily (Stephen) Patton and adopted sister Shamandee. His nieces and nephew; Amanda (Bear), Christopher (Jade), Steven (Gill), Jori, Lorissa, Jaron, Aidan, Rae-Lynn, Darragh, Harrison, William, Alan and grand-niece Ava, grand-nephew Jace. On his father side; Jennifer Meekis, Cleon Meekis and Bernie Crow. Don had many Aunts, Uncles and Cousins whom loved and cherished his time, our apologies for those we have missed in the listings.
Growing up in St. Mary’s ON from a young age and Don had many experiences and joys ahead of him. As a young man he was adventurous and continually sought out adventures of life - big or small there was always a smile to be had. Of all things he loved, he loved his Chicago Blackhawks.
Don had the purest of hearts and would give of himself what he could; which lead him to working within the Social Services field in various communities. He loved his work, his family and friends. He also loved to travel to different communities and learn about his traditional ways.
A Wake will be held on Thursday, December 19, 2019 at 11:00am at the Norman Community Centre in Norman and Funeral Services will follow in the same location Friday, December 20 2019 at 11:00 am. The Feast will be held at the Ne-Chee Friendship Centre in the Events Room on the front of the building at 326 2nd Street South.
