Don Necanapenace Sr. - A resident of Grassy Narrows First Nation passed away at his residence on January 10, 2014.

He was born in Grassy Narrows on July 12, 1965.

He is survived by his common law wife Laura Lee Land and their children Shelly and Tara Land, Abert and Matilda Necanapenace, his son Cliff Dan Kokopenace, his daughter Diane Betsy Necanapenace, son Don Necanapenace Jr. His grandchildren Tianna Fobister, Jyles Land, Amairris and Carys Pahpasay, Lucas and Kyro Necanapenace, Elizabeth Copenace, Caidence Necanapenace, Brogan Bluebird and Shelby Land.

He is also survived by his sisters Myra Delphine Necanapenace, Linda Mary Necanapenace (Roy), Sandra Spiers-Necanapenace and Joanne Assin. He is also survived by uncles Joe Loon, Ross Loon, Stanley Necanapenace and his aunt Betty Loon. As well as nieces and nephews Roxanne, Edward and Valentina Necanapenace, Shawn, James, Michael and Brittany Necanapenace, Denzel, Julianne, Anton and Americo Assin, Anita Necanapenace, Christopher and Merril Land, Keon, Savannah, Alanda and Evander Fobister. His cousins Susan Landon, Linda, River and Akellies Fobister, Rhonda Keesick, Ronnie Loon, Ginny Loon, Adeline Paypom, Sandra Necanapenace and Beatrice Keewatin.

He was predeceased by his parents Alec and Matilda Necanapenace, brothers Albert, Steven and baby boy Necanapenace. Grandparents Alphonse Necanapenace and Camillia Necanapenace (nee Loon). Aunties Margaret Necanapenace and Julia Keewatin. Grandparents Steve and Mary Loon. Uncles Larry, Delamere and Herman Loon, aunts Susan and Mary Loon. As well as his son Delamere Necanapenace, cousins David John and Murphy Necanapenace, Virginia, Gordie and Audrey Loon.

Wake service will be held on Monday, January 13, 2014 at the Minnow Say Win building in Grassy Narrows beginning at 1:00pm. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at 2:00pm with interment to follow.
